School Captains' Welcome

At Rossall we are very lucky to have two wonderful School Captains. We are incredibly proud of both for their hard work and contribution to the School. Here in their own words they let you know about their experience of life at Rossall.

Hello, my name is Natasha, and I am honoured to serve as one of the School Captains for the upcoming academic year. I am in Rose House and am currently an A-level student, studying Chemistry, Biology, and Economics. Having been a part of Rossall since I was two years old, this school has truly become my second home. Rossall is a warm, welcoming, diverse, and friendly environment where I have had the privilege of growing up.

Throughout my years at Rossall, I have been presented with a vast array of opportunities and challenges, from joining the girls’ football team to participating in Rossall’s first-ever TEDx youth event, attending CCF camps, and going on end-of-year field trips to the Isle of Man and the Lake District. All these different experiences have pushed me out of my comfort zone and have shaped me into the confident individual I am today. Memories I have made from these experiences will stay with me for life.

One of my favourite aspects of Rossall is boarding. I cherish my home community, spending time in the office chatting with teachers on duty, and going for evening walks around our beautiful campus. My favourite events will always be house singing and the Christmas dinner!

When you join Rossall, you are not just here for the lessons but to become a part of a community, a family. You are surrounded by an incredibly wide variety of people from just about every background and culture, each with different passions and future aspirations. As a Sixth Form student, the support I have received from teachers over the years has been invaluable, particularly the support from the Sixth Form team.

I hope to see you on our beautiful campus in the near future.

Hello, my name is Siwat Dumsuwan. I’m from Thailand, and it is an honour to be one of the School Captains of this prestigious school, a place that is rich with history. I am also very honoured to be the House Captain of the best house, MC. I am an A-Level student, studying Politics, Economics, and Spanish. Rossall has been home for me for the last 7 years. Coming from Thailand and joining Rossall in Year 7, Rossall has always been welcoming to international students like me. Ever since joining, the houseparents here felt like they were my second parents.

Since joining Rossall, I have had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities. I have represented Rossall in 6 different sports, been part of the charity committee, participated in house residential programs, worked with the local community, and, just last summer I, along with 9 other students, had the amazing experience of volunteering in Ghana. It was the best experience of my life. This trip allowed me to step out of my comfort zone, visit new places, work in a team, share my experiences, teach valuable lessons, and donate items to help those in need. The Ghana trip is one of my favourite moments from my time in Sixth Form, and I highly recommend it to anyone joining our community. It provided me with the opportunity to reflect on myself and the world around me.

One of my favourite aspects of Rossall is boarding, having been in boarding all throughout my senior school. Learning that this is my last year at Rossall. I will definitely miss boarding. Missing memories of having roommates, watching football with my friends in the common room, being mocked because your team lost by both my friends and my deputy houseparents, eating tea with my housemates on a Sunday, the competitiveness in house football every year and so many more other memories. The integrated, warm, welcoming and diverse boarding environment we have makes me feel like I’ve never left home.

The last thing I would like to say is when you join Rossall you become part of a community and a family for life. Whilst you are here this is your home along with so many others from all over the world. And even when you leave Rossall. You remain as part of this great community as Old Rossalians.
